As we embrace Women's Month and gear up to commemorate Women’s Day this Friday the 9th, I find myself reflecting on an inspiring outing from last week Sunday. I had the pleasure of watching "Thaba Bosiu" the musical, with my friends.

We honoured the show by wearing our beautiful Basotho blankets known as “Seanamarena”.
Thaba Bosiu is a spellbinding production directed by the talented Napo Masheane.
This experience not only transported us back to the rich historical tapestry of Thaba Bosiu - the mountain fortress in Lesotho, standing tall in the district of Maseru, a place where history was shaped by Morena Moshoeshoe, the Basotho founder and leader.

It displayed the strength and legacy of remarkable women like Mantsopa and Manthatisi proving that behind this great man were formidable women whose stories deserve equal recognition.
Through her direction of "Thaba Bosiu", Masheane not only honoured these historical figures but also amplified their stories for new generations to appreciate and learn from.
As we commemorate Women's Month, let's celebrate the achievements of women past and present.
Let's honour the prophetesses, warriors, artists, homemakers and leaders who have paved the way for future generations.
And as we look ahead, let us continue to support and uplift the women who are shaping our world today.
Adding to the celebrations, my dear friend Vhutshilo from Diversity- SA held her monthly “Difficult Conversations – titled Celebrating Women” with Nomalanga Sitole.

It was an incredibly enriching session. The takeaway from our conversation highlighted and affirmed of women from every sphere of life making strides in their respective areas, challenging the status quo, and inspiring change.
It reminded us to set boundaries and learn to say both yes and no at appropriate times and continue lifting each other up.
Back to the show , I loved a scene where Manthatisi’s strength and courage are highlighted through a conversation between her and Morena Moshoeshoe.

I focus on Mantsopa and Manthatisi as they are familiar names that I read about in history books.
To give you a bit of context, Mantsopa was a renowned prophetess, a beacon of wisdom and spiritual guidance. Her visions and counsel were instrumental in guiding the Basotho people through turbulent times. Her legacy is a testament to the powerful role women have always played in shaping and sustaining communities, even in the face of adversity.
Manthatisi was a warrior queen who led her people with unparalleled courage. Her strategic brilliance and leadership in battle were critical in protecting her people. The story of Manthatisi reminds us that women have always been at the forefront, defending and leading with strength and determination.

May you see yourself in each of these heroic women, may we all learn from each other, and may we move forward together.
So, this Women's Day, take a moment to reflect on the incredible journeys of women like Mantsopa, Manthatisi, your Mom, Lilian Ngoyi, Helen Joseph, countless others who came before us and many other dynamic trailblazers of our times that we know and learn about every day.
Their stories are a powerful reminder of the enduring strength and spirit of women, both then and now.
It’s a Wondrous Wednesday
Making History ✨
