As i stand half way through my 40th year, the saying "life begins at 40" has taken on a whole new meaning. I reflect on it a lot and whoever came up with that little nugget of wisdom clearly knew a thing or two about the beauty of aging like fine wine. And speaking of wine, I love me some wine..lots of it. It’s always a beautiful treat as I flip through the pages of a good read, as I unwind after a long day, as I welcome friends and family into my space and it makes for a great gift as well.

Over the years, there has been good growth and some stumbles. I have fallen and picked myself up. I have cried and laughed myself to sleep. I have gained and lost some things. I have learned and relearned a lot, still in the process to unlearn a couple of things. I have simplified and complicated my life in many ways I could remember.
And just as a glass of red is best enjoyed slowly, savoring each sip, so too I decided to savour the moments that make up my life (the good and the not so good), especially the ones that reminds me that nothing is permanent in this life and shifts me to being a little bit wiser.

1984 was a good year! Friday the 20th January was even more special! So here's to my 40th plus 6 months and 11 days, to getting ready for my Mt Kilimanjaro summit in 3 weeks, to facing my fears, to unloading the weight of the mountains I’ve been carrying on my shoulders all this years, to walking and climbing one, to surrendering, to learning to live in the moment, and to embracing all the adventures, challenges, and joys that come with this chapter of my life.
May our glasses be forever filled with the richness of experience, the warmth of loved ones, and the promise of many more happy years to come.
Cheers to me and cheers to you dear reader.
Let us be the celebrants of our lives, the bearer of decades (praying and hoping for another 4 decades), and the conqueror of all that lies ahead.
It’s a Wondrous Wednesday
