Hello Friend. You’ve been reading a bit about me and I thought let me bring you closer to my space.

I’m Likhabiso pronounced “Deegabisoo”. I started this blog last October to share my journey and let women who find themselves raising kids single-handedly know they are not alone. I’ve been asked many times where I get all the time to be and do what I do. It’s funny because I’m no superwoman. I just try to be the best woman I can be so I can be the best mom I can be.

I’m an all-rounder spirited mother of two gorgeous beings Ngidumile 11 and Masedi 9. I call them boy Gucci and girl Gucci but I’m afraid they are outgrowing these pet names. They are both at the stage where they do the naming instead of adopting what I give them. Ngidumile calls himself “Mile” and Masedi goes by “Lisa”.

Running is my free therapy. I enjoy every step I take. I have ran 4 Comrade's marathons. Completed 94.7 cycling challenge 12 weeks after my leg reconstruction in 2019. I have found peace in hiking and learning how to swim with the aim of doing open waters.

As someone who hasn’t owned a TV set in the past twelve years, in my spare time I read, I like to write, cook, laugh and share intimate conversations. I’m told I can be pretty deep though.

I am the Benjamin in a family of 4 girls. I was raised by my loving fierce paternal grandmother. I wish she was still here to see my kids and help me raise them. I’m a daddy’s girl through and through. My dad loved his girls and I carry a bit of sadness that my kids don’t have a daddy’s relationship and may never experience the father’s love I know and speak of.

I live in Midrand. Life here is amazing as it’s central to our needs. I have a 9-5 gig. On any given day you will find me in between dropping kids off to their extra-murals, having good coffee in the garden, taking long walks/running and journaling.

At almost 40, a good massage can change my entire week. I love good food and can make a decent meal out of nothing. My days seem short as a single mom with a long list of to-dos and to listen to. If only 6 more hours can be added to single moms’ days. Being a night owl has helped me steal some time to reflect and cross some T’s.

Single parenting is no walk in the park. I am still learning the ropes but I love and enjoy being a mom. I’m definitely not where I thought I’d be in life, but I’m proud of the strides I’ve made and I’m happy. Despite the uncertainties in the world around us, I feel optimistic about where I’m headed and secure.

A sip of fine wine has also proven to be worthy in my small world. Many call me Likha for short. It’s supposed to be Likha (Deekga) not Liquor/ Leekh’a.

Breathe!
